TIROL

This is another of the chocolates in my Japanese chocolate assortment. This one is filled with a coffee flavored caramel-like filling. Mmm mmm mmm....

Inside BIS*

Witness the inside of the BIS chocolate!! Animal-cracker-like-biscuity goodness...

*This is my post from Saturday, March 31, 2007. This post is late. Uh huh...

BIS*

While at Mitsuwa the last time, I picked up a package of assorted Japanese chocolate from the candy company Tirol. The kind of chocolate pictured above is milk chocolate with a small biscuit (kind of like an animal cracker) in the middle. It is quite tasty. Tomorrow, you'll get to see the insides.

Iced Tea at Work*

Just to confirm for you that I am on a making my own iced tea kick, witness iced tea at work. I have even been making iced tea in some old VitaminWater bottles while at work. It doesn't get much more obsessive than that. It's so great to have homemade iced tea at work, though. Yummy! This is a photo of the cap on a bottle of my iced tea. I made a little monogram for the top so that, when it's in the fridge, people know that it's mine. Also, I was kinda bored...

Make your own teabags

I have been on a making my own iced tea kick lately. Tonight I took Andrew's suggestion and mixed some green tea with what we had left over of Teavana's Lemon Twist rooibos tea. The rooibos was loose and I didn't feel like fishing it out so I used these make-your-own-teabag things that we got during our trip to Mitsuwa. That's it floating at the back of the pot (the top of the photograph). They operate like those fold over sandwich bags. I haven't tried the tea yet but I'm sure it's going to be very tasty!!

Yogurt with Honey

I had some vanilla yogurt with some honey along with some dried figs for dessert tonight. It was simply divine, although the figs could have been better. Next time we will have to purchase them at Whole Foods and not the local Korean market... I really love the way that the honey looks in this picture!!

Bell Peppers - Indian style

I'm still on the Indian cooking kick. This evening I made these tasty bell peppers in a yogurt and roast chickpea flour sauce. It was a little spicy from the cayenne pepper but it tasted somewhat nutty and smoky. It has lots of cumin seeds; just wonderfully tasty!!! Andrew also made an amazing dish this evening with black-eyed peas and mushrooms. It was very tasty. He used the real cinnamon that I purchased from our Korean market. I love it!!!

Silkworm Pupa*

EEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean... Sounds appetizing!! NOT!!! This just creeps me out. This is a can of silkworms that are somewhere in between the larval and adult stage. This can was being sold at our local Korean market. What is more, they were on sale!!! Just 99 cents per can!! You can almost taste it, can't you?! I hope not...

*This is my post from Sunday, March 25, 2007. This post is late. Yeah, yeah, yeah...

Grapefruit*

The grapefruit looks kind of gross, don't you think?! It kind of reminds of some tentacled Miyazaki monster creation...

*This is my post from Saturday, March 24, 2007. This post is late. Yeah, yeah, yeah...

Smarties*

Good old Smarties!! Colorful and tasty... Who could ask for more than little sugar cubes in pretty colors?!

Dried Apricot

So, now we are going to move to the dried fruit mix that one of my coworkers so generously picked up for me!! This is a photo of one of the dried apricots that was part of the mix. It was tasty!!! Yummy! I do like me some dried fruit...

VitaminWater

I bought this VitaminWater at one of the lunch trucks today. I didn't really think that I was going to like it but they didn't have the green tea that I wanted... I was shocked, though. It was actually pretty darn tasty!!! This is the dragonfruit flavor. To be honest, it is sugar water, and I love sugar :-)

3 Musketeers

One of my coworkers offered this 3 Musketeers bar to me after lunch. I said no at first but was persuaded by her constant pleading... ;-) It has "45% less fat" so I guess that it's fine to eat it...

Peanuts*

And the last nut in my mix is not even a nut at all. It's peanuts. Tasty nonetheless...

Indian Food*

I spent most of my day cooking, doing laundry, cleaning the guinea pig cage and shoveling... What fun?! Well actually, the cooking was kind of fun. I made three dishes from my vegetarian Indian cookbook. I made the cauliflower dish (pictured earlier) again but this time with double the spices but too much salt. I also made a split moong dal soup that was quite tasty and, because of the spices, Andrew thinks smells like sausage. Lastly, I made the dish pictured above. It is stew type dish that has chickpeas, eggplant, spinach and tomatoes. Absolutely delicious!! I can't wait to make some more of the recipes from the book!!

Green Tea Candy*

A little something green for St. Patrick's Day... Tasty Japanese green tea candy. This one has a tasty gooey milk-flavored center!! It's not Irish, but at least it's green...

Almonds*

Just when you thought you had enough nuts in your life - quintuplets!!! Almonds. Don't they look tasty?!

Walnut*

Yet another nut from my office nut medley!! (No; I am not talking about my coworkers. They're a different story...) The walnut. Very tasty indeed...

Yogurt Pretzels*

This is my new clump o' yogurt pretzels. It is sooooooo hot in the office that it melted the yogurt coating. I then stuck the bag in the fridge and now I have a uniyogurtpretzel!!

Wasabi Peas*

This is photo of some wasabi peas that I have at work. They are very hot (spicy) and tasty but the one in the back with the eye really freaked me out!!! I swear that Photoshop was not involved in this photo. Sadly, I ate the evidence...

Bridal Shower Cake

Erin's bridal shower was today. It was at Andrew's parents' house. The decorations and food were just wonderfully beautiful. This is a photo of the huge heart cake that was at the shower. The cake decorations were great - simple and elegant. I had the opportunity to have some after the shower. The cake part was palatable; the icing, however, was wonderful!! So tasty...

Tuna and Cranberry Sandwich*

Andrew and I bought dinner from Whole Foods tonight. We so rarely go; it's a shame. Anyway, I got this tuna and cranberry salad. I put it on a toasted oat bran bagel with some English cheddar that we got at Trader Joe's. I also had some orzo salad that had spinach, roasted red peppers and roasted pine nuts. Dinner was just divine!!

*This is my post from Saturday, March 10, 2007. This post is a tad bit late. Kathleen and Adair came last night and I got a little bit distracted...

Nut

This is another one of the nuts that is in my mixed nuts. Sadly, I don't know what kind of nut it is. I only know that I like them... Anyone know what this is?

Curried Cauliflower with Potatoes*

I finally tried making something from the wonderful vegetarian Indian cookbook that Andrew's parents gave me for the holidays in 2005. I really enjoyed this recipe. I found it very tasty but Andrew said it needs more spice. I guess that I'll have to try some more spice next time... I can't wait to try some more recipes!!!

Squishy Insides*

A photo of the squishy insides of what could be my favorite candy: Cadbury Creme Eggs!! You should all go out and buy yourself some (unless you're allergic to chocolate or something...).

Blueberry Cobbler Thingy*

This is the blueberry cobbler type thing that we had for my birthday. It was my request. It is a recipe that came from the Cake Doctor cookbook. I haven't had it in a very long time and it is so good. It basically consists of blueberry pie filling, crushed pineapple, cake mix and a lot of butter!!! What could be better?!

Chocolate Truffle*

Andrew rediscovered this bag of truffles that he received from a holiday party that he went to at work in our cabinet. We ate some and they are still as tasty as they ever were. Mmmmm... Yummy...

Japanese Marshmallow Candy*

This is a photo of a very tasty kind of Japanese candy that is made of marshmallow. These candies can have different fillings. In this case, it is chocolate. As you can probably tell from looking at the photo, I took a bite out of this one. Yummy!!

Coffee Grounds*

Andrew and I have made the leap into grinding our coffee. Our new coffee grinder is very cool but also very, very loud. This is a photograph of some of the grounds that came from our grinder. Don't they look like they will make some tasty coffee?!

Milky Way

Creamy nougat, gooey caramel... The only thing that could make this better would be to have a Milky Way Midnight. I am enjoying this tasty candy bar while Andrew is working on his project with his group. Shhh, don't tell him...

Garlic

Garlic, food of the gods!! Need I say more?

Morinaga Pancake Mix*

This morning we made some tasty pancakes from a mix that we picked up at Mitsuwa last weekend. The brand is Morinaga and they were totally tasty, fluffy yet firm. And, I ask you, in what other country besides Japan would all the ingredients have happy faces? Ok, maybe Korea but these are definitely Japanese...

Birthday Cake*

Today is my birthday. Everyone conspired to make it a great b-day!!! I was very happy!! I had sushi lunch, the tasty cake (pictured above), presents, Outback Steakhouse dinner and a new cubicle. The only thing that would have made it better was no project to work on...

Rich Chocolate Ovaltine*

Andrew and I purchased some rich chocolate Ovaltine at the Acme today. This is my first Ovaltine experience and I have to say it was pretty tasty. In fact, it was rich and chocolaty... Scrumptious!!

Andes Mint*

I really love chocolate; can you tell? This is picture of an Andes mint that I ate tonight. I really love these cookie bars that my aunt makes from Andes mints. They are so good and even tastier than the mints themselves.

Strawberry Chocolate*

As usual, a photograph of some tasty Japanese chocolate. This time it is strawberry chocolate from Meiji. This is some of my favorite from Japan, right behind Meltyblend and Black... I really like the way that the reflection from the chocolates made the plate pinkish.

Ramune*

Yes, you have previously seen a similar photo on my blog. This is ramune, the Japanese soda with the marble that I wrote about before. This time it is the original flavor that I like that to describe as similar to bubble gum flavored penicillin. Sounds tasty, no? I bought a six pack when we were at Mitsuwa this past Saturday.

Andrew's Tasty Dinner*

This is the very wonderful meal that Andrew made for dinner tonight. We bought some cheap tilapia at the local Korean market. Andrew made it very tasty with some lemon, herbs and enoki mushrooms!! He also made this salad that he found the recipe for in one of his cooking magazines. It was so, so tasty!! It was endive, cauliflower, white beans and feta cheese in this really good lemon dressing. This is one of my favorite salads. Just fantastic.

Shio Ramen*

Andrew, his parents and I went on an odyssey to Mitsuwa, a huge Japanese market in Edgewater, New Jersey. After a slight detour to NYC, we made it to Mitsuwa and had some lunch. This is a photo of the tasty, tasty, tasty shio ramen (salt ramen) that I had for lunch. That thing at the bottom of the photo is fish cake; I like them but Andrew hates them... So, the players are, going from the fish cake around the left: pork, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. In the middle are scallions and a sour cherry. My lunch was so, so good. I wish we had a ramen shop around our house... That would be the best...

Chocolaty Milk*

Chocolaty milk is the bestest. This is a photo of the Hershey's chocolate syrup that has settled at the bottom of the glass before I had a chance to stir it up. Some would say this is a lot of chocolate for the tiny glass of milk I'm having; Andrew would say it is definitely not enough!! His glass would be half chocolate syrup and half milk if I let him...

Hokkaido Cream

This is a new little snack that I found during our shopping trip to the local Korean market. It's from Meiji, the same folks that make Meltyblend. It has a little chocolate cookie on the bottom that is topped with a cream (hence the name...). The entire thing is covered in a semi-hard chocolate shell that is dusted with cocoa powder. It is quite tasty but the cream, as is most often the case in Japan, is not as sweet as it would be in a Western snack. Overall, I would give it an 8 out of 10. :-)

Curry - Japanese Style

This is some tasty Japanese style curry that I made on Sunday night. This is a photo of some of that curry that I had for lunch today. Andrew and I have taken it to work for lunch yesterday and today. I like this curry because it is a little spicy and this time I made it with chicken thighs which turned out very tender and juicy. Yummy!!! :-)

This is a photo of some of the salad mix that we use to bribe Bran and Wyn when we are having lap time. They really love the stuff!! They happily munch away while we pet and scratch them...

Guinea Pig Salad

This is the mini salad that my guinea pigs are going to have tonight. Doesn't it just look delicious?! It has romaine lettuce, carrots, carrot tops, parsley, green peppers, tomatoes and grapes. I hope they enjoy it...
